Egyptian military said today at least 24 terrorists and 6 soldiers were killed as armed forces foiled terror attacks in restive North Sinai region. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Army spokesman Tamer el-Refae said in a statement that one terrorist was also injured during the clashes. The armed forces also destroyed two vehicles which were used by terrorists. The forces are
currently combing the area of the incident and chasing the attackers.
North Sinai has witnessed many terrorist attacks since the January 2011 revolution that toppled ex-president Hosni Mubarak.The attacks, mainly targeting police and military, increased after the ouster of Islamist ex-president Mohamed Morsi in 2013 by the military following massive protests against his rule.
