In United States, a travel ban in New York City has ended as the eastern parts of the country begin digging out from the weekend's massive snowstorm that killed at least 28 people. However, the US federal government agencies located in Washington, DC and its suburbs will be closed today following heavy storm. Heavy snow storm came to the US east coast on Friday afternoon, hitting the US capital, as well as the surrounding states of Maryland,
Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Forecasts pointed to the Washington, DC area as likely being one that will be hit hardest by the greatest amount of snow. Currently, the metro remains closed in the area and air travel faces further disruption. Moreover, thousands of flights have been canceled all across the eastern part of the United States. The blizzard has prompted Governors of at least 11 US states to declare states of emergency.
