Thirty Malaysians have been picked for the '’Guest of Saudi Arabian King'’ programme for the haj pilgrimage this year.
The Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Malaysia, Mahmoud Hussien Saeed Qattan, said on Monday, the programme aims to foster Muslim brotherhood among Muslims from all over the world.
“The participants can also learn about the customs and cultures of Muslims from other countries,” he
said at an event with the participants at the Saudi Arabian embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
The group would leave for Jeddah via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Aug 12 and proceed to Madinah, before leaving for Makkah. They would be in the holy land until Aug 27.
Introduced in 1997, the programme is fully sponsored by King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and comes in form of lodging, flight ticket, and food.
