In Nigeria, at least 40 people have been killed in an attack by armed bandits at a village in Kaduna state.
Police said, the bandits invaded the village of Gwaska yesterday, after fighting local defense forces protecting the Birnin Gwari local government area, a community of about 3,000 people.
Sources said, the attackers were from Zamfara
state, and that they shot at children and torched houses. 200 policemen and 10 patrol vehicles were deployed at the scene.
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of a permanent battalion of the Nigerian Army in the Birnin Gwari area. The Emergency Management Agency is providing aid to those affected.
