In Philippines, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6(point)5 shook the Surigao del Norte province in southern region late today. According to the officials, the earthquake injured at least 2 people and damaged some
buildings.
There was no threat of a tsunami from the quake which struck about 14 kilometers northwest of the capital city of Surigao at a relatively shallow depth of 11 kilometers. The quake was set off by movement in the Philippine fault.
