In Japan, a powerful 6.6 magnitude quake hit the northern island of Hokkaido early today.
The United States Geological Survey said, relatively shallow quake struck 62 kilometres southeast of the regional capital of Sapporo. No tsunami
warning was issued.
The power company in Hokkaido said all of the nearly 3 million buildings across the prefecture are without electricity. Evacuation shelters are being set up in Sapporo and other cities
