The value of non-oil foreign merchandise trade through Abu Dhabi ports amounted to Dh213.3 billion ($58 billion) in 2019, according to figures released by the Statistics Centre- Abu Dhabi (SCAD).
The figures showed a 9.2 per cent decrease in imports which fell from Dh113 billion in 2018 to Dh102.5 billion, while the value of re-exports increased by 9.8 per cent to Dh52.8 billion compared to the same period the year before.
The total trade increased by 2.2 per cent in December 2019 over the same month in 2018, driven by a growth in re-exports and exports by 6.5 per cent, and 4.2 per cent respectively, while the value of imports dropped by 1.3 per cent in the same period.
Saudi Arabia emerged on top of Abu Dhabi's trade partners list with a total amount of Dh55.3 billion, followed by the US with Dh13.16
billion, China with Dh11.5 billion, Japan with Dh10.65 billion and then Kuwait with Dh10.3 billion.
Manufactures dominated the list of most exported merchandise, with a total amount of around Dh45 billion, while F&B exports came second with Dh6 billion; consumer goods amounted to Dh3.43 billion, while production articles stood at Dh2.33 billion.
On re-exports, the SCAD report said the transport equipment and parts took the lion's share during the reference period totalling Dh24.11 billion, followed by consumer goods at Dh10.13 billion and production articles at Dh9.8 billion.
