Afghanistan school blast toll rises to 58

The death toll from blasts near a school in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul has risen to 58. More than 150 others were injured. Interior ministry said, at least three blasts happened near Sayed-ul-Shuhada High School on Saturday afternoon. It happened when students were leaving the school. The death toll is likely to rise further.
 
A school teacher said, a car bomb blast happened first, and then two more explosions occurred near the girls school. He added that the majority of victims are girls. No group or



individual have so far claimed responsibility for the blasts.
 
Afghanistan has been on since the US announced its plan to withdraw all US troops by September 11 this year. Afghanistani officials have claimed that the Taliban has stepped up attacks across the country. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has expressed its deep revulsion at the blast. It offered heartfelt condolences to the victim’s families and wished speedy recovery to those hurt.
