US President Donald Trump has said that America can stop business and decouple its economy from China. In an interview to a TV channel, he said the US does not have to do business with China.
In reply to a question on decoupling the US economy from China, Trump said if China does not treat the US fairly, he will certainly do that.
In June, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had said a decoupling of the US
and Chinese economies will happen if US companies are not allowed to compete on a fair and level basis in China's economy.
Trump entered into a high-stakes trade war with China before reaching a partial Phase 1 trade deal in January.
Trump has since shut the door on Phase 2 negotiations, saying he is unhappy with Beijing's handling of the pandemic.
