Machilipatnam: An Indian-American couple was killed in a plane crash on Saturday after their private chartered flight fell into a retention pond in Ohio. The incident came to light on Tuesday after the police found the missing plane in the pond.
The deceased identified as Dr. Umamaheswara Rao Kalpatapu and Dr. Sita Gita Rajyalakshmi were working as psychiatrists in their own 'Raj Clinics'. The couple that hailed from Machilipatnam was
residing in Logansport, Indiana for the past 40 years.
On Saturday, the couple boarded their private flight 'Piper Archer PA-28' around 10.36am. Later the flight went missing and was found in the middle of the retention pond on Tuesday.
The couple has two sons and a daughter. One of the sons was settled in Guntur and other two were pursuing medicine course in US. The victims graduated from Guntur Medical College in 1972.
