Arab League announces launch of international media campaign to explain gravity of US decision on Jerusalem

Arab League in a statement has announced the launch of an international media campaign to explain the gravity of US decision to shift its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The statement was made after the emergency meeting of Foreign Ministers from 22 countries in Cairo yesterday.

The statement also called on the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution condemning US President Donald Trump’s decision. The ministerial council for a resolution stated that Mr Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was a dangerous development that places the



US in a position of bias in favour of the occupation. It said, Mr Trump’s decision is illegal and a dangerous violation of international law.

The resolution also said that the US decision undermines efforts to bring about peace, deepens tension and will spark anger that will threaten to push the region to the edge of the abyss of violence, chaos and bloodshed. It demanded that the international community exert pressure to pursue implementing the two-State solution. The resolution also said that the ministers would again meet within a month.
