In Afghanistan, at least 20 woeshippers were killed and 50 others injured in an hour-long suicide bomb and gun attack on a mosque in capital Kabul on Friday.Deputy Interior Ministry spokesman said a suicide bomber detonated himself at the gate of the mosque as other attackers stormed the building as worshippers gathered for Friday prayers in the Khair Khana area of Kabul.
Police said two of the
assailants blew themselves up and another two were shot to death by Afghan security forces. Islamic State claimed responsibility for today's attack the latest to target Afghanistan's minority Shiites.
President Ashraf Ghani has condemned the violence and said the militants were turning to attacking places of worship because they were losing on the battlefield.
