In Taiwan, at least 22 people have lost their lives and 171 injured in a passenger train derailment in Yilan County. Railway authorities said, a total of 366 people were on the train, traveling from Shulin in New Taipei City to Taitung when all eight of its carriages derailed



yesterday. 

It is not immediately clear what caused the train to derail. 

Emergency medical teams and firefighters are helping the injured, with the Defence Ministry saying that it has sent 120 soldiers to help with rescue efforts.
