In Uganda, at least 41 people were killed after a river burst its banks in eastern part of the country, resulting in rocks and muds barrelling into homes.

According to disaster officials rescue teams continued picking through the rubble late yesterday, searching for survivors and victims of the disaster which took place on Thursday in the eastern Bududa district.

for relief, disaster preparedness and refugees  Hilary Onek, said that efforts are on to look for survivors. Unknown number of people remained missing. He said river burst its banks before washing away homes lower down.
 
Bududa district in the foothills of Mount Elgon, which lies on the border between Uganda and Kenya, is a high-risk area for landslides.
