A ban has been extended on the issuance of employment visas to expat workers across some professions as part of Omanisation it has been reported.
Oman's Minsitry of Manpower will extend the ban on professions that include purchase and sale representatives and workers in the construction, cleaning, and workshop sectors, according to a report in Times of Oman.
The new changes mean that companies in
these sectors will no longer be able to receive new permits to get more employees.
It is the latest move by the ministry to freeze expat visa after it included 87 professions in January 2018 end and further extended it for another six months last July.
Permits to non-Omanis will cease to release for the next six months. But permits for the replacement of existing employees will continue, the report added.
