The Bangladesh government cancelled a gazette allowing 50 judicial officials to take part in training courses in National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, and a state judicial academy in India. The Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs of Bangladesh disclosed the decision in a circular issued on Sunday.

Earlier on December 30, the gazette had permitted 50 judicial officials to take part in the training courses from 10-20 February, 2025.

The circular stated that the gazette has been cancelled as per the direction of Bangladesh

Supreme Court.

The earlier notification had mentioned that the Indian government will bear all expenses for the training programme.

The cancelled programme was part of a bilateral understanding signed in April 2017 during then-prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India.

Under the agreement, judicial training was arranged to enhance the capacity and expertise of Bangladeshi judicial officials at India’s National Judicial Academy and other institutions.
