Bangladesh Supreme Court granted bail to former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in a graft case today.
The apex court has upheld the High Court's order giving her bail. The 72-year-old Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief was sentenced for five years on the 8th of February over the embezzlement of 21 million taka (about 250,000
dollar) in foreign donations meant for the Zia Orphanage Trust.
The High Court had on the 12th of March granted an interim bail to Zia. Later, the Anti-Corruption Commission and the government challenged the High Court order, taking their appeals to the Appellate Division.
