Conservative leader Boris Johnson yesterday officially took over the charge as British Prime Minister after Theresa May handed in her resignation to the Queen.
As she relinquished power after three years, Mrs May said being Prime Minister had been the greatest honour and wished her successor well.
Mr Johnson is expected to use the opportunity to increase the number of women in full cabinet positions
and boost the representation of ethnic minorities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Boris Johnson on assuming office as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In a tweet, Mr Modi wished him success.
The Prime Minister said he looks forward to working with Mr Johnson to further strengthen India-UK partnership in all spheres.
