Two young Arab men, in their 20s, were rescued by the Ras Al Khaimah Police after their car fell into the Al Rams Sea, to the north of the emirate.
Brigadier Hassan Ibrahim, deputy director general of the central operations room of RAK Police, said they were alerted about the mishap late on Monday.
Traffic patrols, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams rushed to the scene while the coast guard and a second squad team instantly moved to the same site.
"The two young men managed to get out of the car before it fully sank into the sea, while the paramedics checked them, and provided them with the necessary first aids."
The RAK Police's swift interference and the help of a
woman at the site, who alerted the police, ensured the two young men were provided timely help, and the car was later fished to safety, he added.
"Initial enactment of the accident showed that the accident was blamed on the lack of light at the site, in addition to the driver's inattentive driving," he said, noting that the accident file has been referred to the authorities concerned for due legal procedures.
Urging, he said all drivers need to be cautious and completely attentive on the road, particularly while driving close to the sea.
"The bodies concerned should also provide enough light at this site and along the coast of the sea as so many other vehicles were sunk at the same place before."
