Chad has formally ended a security and defence cooperation accord with France. Foreign Minister of Chad Abderaman Koulamallah in a statement said, the decision was made after an ‘in-depth analysis,’ which marked a ‘historic’ turning point. He said, it is time for Chad to assert its full sovereignty and redefine its strategic partners
according to national priorities. However, he added that Chad will continue to maintain ‘constructive’ relations with France in other areas of common interest.
Chad is a North and Central African country. It was a French colony since its independence on 11th August 1960.
