Chinese nuclear-powered submarine suffered a catastrophic failure in August killing its 55 soldiers, reveals a leaked British intelligence report

A leaked British intelligence report has revealed that 55 Chinese soldiers were killed when a nuclear-powered submarine sunk after being caught in a trap intended for American and British vessels. While China has rejected the loss of its submarine, the British intelligence report said that the PLA Navy submarine suffered a catastrophic failure that poisoned the crew on August

According to the reports, the submarine ran out of oxygen near Shandong province in Shanghai, after it was caught in seabed defences installed by its own forces. The report said that the vessel hit a chain and anchor obstacle used by the Chinese navy to trap US and allied submarines.
