Chinese President Jinping holds telephone conversation with Russian President Putin

Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. Chinese Foreign Ministry in a statement said that the two sides exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine. President Putin introduced Russia’s position on the Ukraine issue and said Russia is willing to conduct high-level negotiations with Ukraine. 

According to the statement, President Xi said China supports Russia and Ukraine to resolve the issue through negotiation. China's basic position on respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and abiding by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter is consistent. 

Yesterday, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Wang Yi said, China always respects all countries' sovereignty and territorial integrity. At the same time, we also see a complex and unique historical context on the Ukraine issue and understand Russia's legitimate concerns on security issues, Wang

Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with leaders of several countries including Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the Kremlin said Thursday. Media reports Friday said, Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to send a delegation of high-ranking officials to Minsk to hold talks with Kiev, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said. 

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at Friday's media briefing in Beijing that China will make its own effort to push for political settlement of the Ukraine issue.

Meanwhile, China is preparing to bring back its nationals from Ukraine by chartered flights following the massive military operations launched by Russia against the east European country, the official media reported on Friday. The Chinese Embassy in Kyiv issued a notice on Thursday in preparation for bringing back Chinese nationals from Ukraine.
