Due to the severe COVID-19 situation and lockdown in China's biggest city Shanghai, the Consulate General of India in the city will operate in remote mode till the situation gets back to normal. A notice from Consulate General of India in Shanghai said,
As the City of Shanghai continues to remain sealed and controlled in different degrees by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the Consulate General of India, Shanghai will remain inaccessible and will
not be in a position to provide consular services in person.'
Considering the above situation, Indian citizens in Eastern China Region may apply at the Embassy of India, Beijing for availing of urgent consular services,' the notice said. Shanghai is still in lockdown despite the local government's announcement of some relaxations in selected zones as Shanghai again reported nearly 23000 new locally transmitted cases yesterday.
