Death toll in China’s coronavirus outbreak rises to 491

New coronavirus has till now infected close to 24,400 people in China and at least 182 abroad. 491 deaths have been reported till now in China and 1 abroad. 892 discharged from hospital till now. Chinese Foreign Ministry has said that number of new suspected cases dropped for a second day in a row.

The country hopes to see an inflection point at an early date. Foreign ministry spokesperson also said that China hopes that US will respect WHO’s authoritative and professional recommendations and will react in an objective manner rather than excessively.

 China has also received a batch of medical supplies from US.

Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday, calling for greater solidarity of the world.

The first new hospital in Wuhan dedicated to treating patients with the coronavirus has started receiving patients from Tuesday. The construction of a second facility is expected to be completed today. The new hospital will have two different entrances for medical staff and patients.

And the hospital has been specially designed to prevent medical workers from getting infected. Hallways, patient wards and bathrooms have four levels of air pressure so the virus cannot be spread.

This is expected to ease pressure on Wuhan’s existing hospitals.

Wuhan government is in the process of building shelter hospitals to treat patients of mild pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus. 2,000 more medical staff have been sent to support Hubei to ensure patient treatment in the epicenter.

As per state media report, The average age of patients died of novel coronavirus infection in epicenter Wuhan is 68.
