In Brazil, death toll from a burst tailing dam at an iron ore mine has risen to 58 people with 305 people still missing, officials said. Minas Gerais state civil defense agency spokesman said the toll is expected to continue rising.
Rescue teams yesterday resumed their search for hundreds of people still missing. Earlier, authorities
paused the search for hours amid fears that a separate dam was at risk of giving way in the area but by the afternoon, civil engineers said the second dam was no longer at risk.
On Friday, the dam, collapsed in Minas Gerais' Brumadinho municipality, triggering heavy mud floods.
