Dozens need treatment after Bur Dubai fire

Dubai: A fire has erupted at a residential building in Bur Dubai near the British Embassy on Thursday afternoon.

Paramedics are treating a number of people, according to eye-witnesses.

The fire is believed to have started shortly before 4am at the building where Jyoti supermarket in located, near British Embassy in Dubai.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire or the extent of the damage.

Emergency workers were seen attending to at



least a dozen residents, mostly women and children in front of the building, according to witnesses.

Some residents have been taken to hospital and their condition was not immediately known, eye-witnesses added.

Civil Defence and police officials present at the spot declined to comment but a resident said the fire started in the ground floor of the building.
