An angry driver purposely ran down a family of eight and then backed over them Wednesday afternoon outside of a 7-Eleven in New York, police said.
The 32-year-old mother died, Haverstraw police said. Her identity wasn't released.
A 35-year-old male and three of the six children were rushed to Westchester Medical Center with serious but non life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The other three children were treated for injuries at a local hospital.
The fight started as a verbal altercation shortly before 2 p.m. in Garnerville.
The 35-year-old
suspect, whose identity wasn't released, drove over the family, according to police, and then brandished a knife when confronted by officers, police said.
He was subdued by a stun gun before being arrested, police said.
The suspect was charged with second-degree murder and seven counts of second-degree attempted murder.
"The investigation is still ongoing and it is anticipated that several additional charges will be filed," Haverstraw police said in a Facebook post. "The names of all involved parties are being withheld at this time due to the ongoing investigation."
