The Dubai Court of Cassation has upheld the death sentence on Nidal Eissa Abdullah, the man who kidnapped, sexually assaulted and killed 9-year old Obaida Sedqi.Earlier, the defendant's lawyer pleaded not guilty which challenged the death sentence of the court. Reasons for the plea indicated a report that Abdullah's thinking was affected by his alcohol addiction.However the same report which was conducted by a team of psychiatrists state
concluded Abdullah was mentally stable and sane and thus could be held responsible for his actions and behavior.As part of the sentence, he will also be required to pay Dh21,000 to the aggrieved family. His execution will be carried out after approval from the Ruler.Further details are awaited
