The Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court has ordered an Asian expatriate to pay a fine of Dh10,000 after he was found guilty of possessing a large quantity of alcohol with the intention of trafficking.
As per court records, the criminal investigation department of the RAK Police was alerted by undercover agents that the defendant was keeping a large quantity of liquor at his house in RAK city.
Having verified the information, the police set a security trap, tracked
down the suspect, and stormed his house, where the liquor was confiscated.
The seized liquor was meant to be sold among blue collar workers as affirmed by an alcohol trader who was also detained red-handed by the police with169 bottles and cans of liquor. The 48-year-old accused, a resident, used to work at a farm. On being interrogated, he admitted to possessing the alcohol bottles and cans, with the intention of trafficking among the workers staying close to his area.
