The General Command of the Air Security has started air surveillance of the Grand Mosque, the city of Makkah, and its adjoining areas for the safety and security of hundreds of
thousands of pilgrims and visitors who have flocked to the holy city in Ramadan. The mission includes air reconnaissance, traffic monitoring, medical evacuation, rescue and firefighting, logistical support for government agencies and participation in the implementation of contingency plans.
