Five People Killed In Snowdonia Helicopter Crash

A mountain rescue team has discovered the wreckage of a helicopter carrying five people en route from Luton to Dublin that crashed in north Wales killing everyone aboard, BBC News reported.

A massive air and land search was launched Wednesday, the report said. A superintendent of North Wales Police announced Thursday the crash site had been located and the team found the wreckage in the Rhinog mountains between Trawsfynydd and Harlech.

The privately owned helicopter vanished from radar contact while over Caernarfon Bay.

The



report said police were unaware of any plan for the helicopter to stop in Caemarfon as part of its route.

No formal identification of the bodies has taken place, the report said, and the coroner has begun an investigation, BBC News reported.

The exact location of the crash has not been released, the report said, as the bodies have not been recovered from the "remote and hazardous" terrain.

Families have been informed of the crash site discovery and an investigation into the crash is being led by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.
