Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan was injured in his leg in a firing on Thursday during his 'real freedom' rally in Wazirabad. The incident happened at Zafarali Khan Chowk. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Ismail said that Khan was shot in the leg "three to four" times.
Four others were also injured in the incident.
Soon after the incident, Imran Khan was transferred from the container to a bulletproof vehicle.
Videos from the rally showed Imran Khan being transferred to a bulletproof vehicle after the firing. He was travelling in an open-top vehicle. Sources said PTI leader Faisal Javed was also injured.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary said that the miscreants shot at Imran Khan with an AK-47. He said that it
was a 'targeted attack'. Imran Khan has been moved to Lahore and will be taken to a hospital, according to former minister Asad Umar.
PTI said a protest will be held in Liberty Chowk against the "cowardly attack" on chairman Imran Khan. All workers and people should immediately reach Liberty Chowk, PTI Lahore president Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood said.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack on Imran Khan and ordered Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to seek a report from the inspector-general of police and chief secretary of Punjab in Pakistan.
Imran Khan on October 29 embarked on a long rally from Lahore to Islamabad against the incumbent government in Pakistan. The rally was scheduled to reach Islamabad on November 4.
