Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was released from a jail in Lahore early today after the Supreme Court granted him bail for six weeks on medical grounds.
He was serving a 7-year imprisonment in the Al Azizia Steel Mills graft case. A three-judge bench led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan's Supreme Court allowed him
to get medical treatment. But the court ruled that he cannot go out of the country.
Three corruption cases were registered against the Sharif family by the anti-graft body in 2017 following a Supreme Court judgment that disqualified Sharif in the Panama Papers case.
