Indian Railways has decided to give full refund for tickets booked on or before April 14. The railways will soon start issuing the refund for tickets booked for regular timetabled trains. April 14 fell in the middle of the national lockdown announced to contain spread of coronavirus through the country.
During the lockdown movement was all passenger trains was halted. Though there was a brief window provided to make train booking, the railways had cancelled
all bookings made before May 14 other than those for 'Shramik Special Trains'.
Shramiik Special Trains were run to assist stranded migrant labourers reach their hometowns.
Indian Railways had introduced Shramik Special trains from May 1 to transport stranded migrant workers, pilgrims, students and tourists.
The railways then launched 15 pairs of Special AC trains from May 12 and 200 time- tabled trains from June 1.
