Funeral of Major General Soleimani to be held today

The funerals of Major General Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi Shia militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis are being held today. According to reports, the funeral is likely to be held at 10.00 am (local time) today morning.

A large number of people are expected to participate in the funeral.

Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Qods Force, Major General Qassem Soleimani was killed today following an airstrike by the US at



Baghdad’s international airport.

Maj Gen Qasem Soleimani was heading Iran's Quds Force, which is an elite unit in Iran's Revolutionary Guards. He was one of the most important military commander of Iran.

The air strike which was carried out by the United States also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces.
