Group of Seven industrialized countries, two day meeting is under way in Hiroshima, a city devastated by a US atomic bomb near the end of World War Two. Global security, the refugee crisis and political instability were focal points for US Secretary of State John Kerry and other G-7 Foreign Ministers, who have wrapped up their first day of talks in Japan yesterday. Mr Kerry is the first US Secretary of State to visit the
city.
In addition to terrorism, the group is expected to discuss maritime security in the South China Sea and recent nuclear and ballistic missile provocations from North Korea. The Group of Seven countries also includes Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. Mr Kerry's visit to the country is also designed to lay the groundwork for US President Barack Obama's May visit to Japan to attend the G-7 leaders summit.
