Global leaders have paid heartfelt tributes to India’s former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. Leaders from across the globe have shared their condolences.
Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, in a social media post, described Dr Singh as a steadfast ally and friend to the people of Afghanistan. He further stated that India has lost one of its most illustrious sons.
Former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed expressed his sorrow on X, calling Dr Singh a “benevolent father figure” and a beloved friend of the
Maldives. Nasheed wrote that he always found Dr. Singh a joy to work with, describing him as “a guiding, fatherly presence.”
Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, highlighted Dr Singh’s significant role in strengthening Indo-Russian relations. In a post on X, he expressed that this is a moment of profound sorrow and grief for both India and Russia. Mr Alipov also praised Dr Singh’s endearing demeanour, his expertise as an economist, and his unwavering commitment to India’s progress.
