The government of Nepal has decided to allow the use of social networking site Tiktok with conditions. According to the Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, a meeting of the Council of Ministers held Thursday decided on lifting the ban on TikTok.

Technology had prepared a proposal following the directive of the Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, to treat all social networking sites on equal footing and prepare needed laws. The government had imposed a ban on Tiktok in November 2023 stating that social ills were fuelled through the usage of Tiktok.
