At least 30 people have died and many others have been injured when a bus plunged down a ravine outside Guatemala City. The bus was travelling on a busy route when it plunged approximately 20 meters from Puente Belice, a highway bridge that crosses over a road and creek.
Guatemalan President
Bernardo Arévalo declared three days of national mourning and deployed the country’s army and disaster agency to assist response efforts. The capital city’s fire service spokesman said that efforts were underway to save other people who were trapped in the wreckage.
