Hundreds of undocumented workers lined up at the immigration offices across the UAE today as they sought to take advantage of the new amnesty scheme announced by the Government.
Indian Missions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have opened a help desk to help maximum number of Indians staying in the country illegally to avail of the three-month amnesty, announced by the UAE Government.
The UAE has announced that it will grant a three month general amnesty, starting from 1st of August to 31st of October 2018 to foreign violators of the country’s residency laws
. The violators will have the option to either rectify their legal status through paying nominal fees, or leave the UAE voluntarily without prosecution.
Ambassador Navdeep Suri has urged the Indian nationals who are staying in UAE illegally or those who have stayed beyond their visa period to take advantage of this amnesty window to either regularize their stay or leave the country.
In 2013, more than 60,000 illegal residents took advantage of the general visa amnesty, which ran for two months
