Just days after the Gangan Shakti exercise, the Indian and Malaysian armies will hold a two-week military exercise beginning today, as part of efforts to bolster defence cooperation.
The joint exercise 'Harimau Shakti' will take place in Malaysia's dense forests of Sengai Perdik in Hulu Langat district.
The Indian Air Force recently concluded Gagan Shakti exercise involving the Tejas fighter aircraft and paratroopers. The exercise was aimed at taking on the Chinese and Pakistani military.
The two-week military drill involved over 1,000 sorties by IAF



aircrafts in which 300 Air Force officers participated.
The "Harimau Shakti" exercise will end on May 13th. The military drill will focus on bolstering cooperation between the two armed forces including sharing expertise in counter-insurgency operations.
The Indian Army will be represented by the 4 Grenadiers with the Malaysian side being led by the 1 Royal Ranjer Regiment.
Both armies will take part in jungle warfare and tactical planning to hone operational skills.
This is the first time the Indian Army will be taking part in a military exercise on Malaysian soil.
