New Delhi: A 30-year-old Indian citizen was reportedly murdered in Poland a few days ago. The development came to light when the family of the victim got in touch with the Indian embassy in Poland when they were not able to reach him on phone, news reports said.
Ibrahim Sheriff, a native of Puthussery village of Kerala's Palakkad district was identified as the murdered man. Sheriff was hired by the IT wing of Poland's ING Bank, Malayala Manorama said in a report.
Ibrahim Sheriff's family in Kerala last contacted him over the phone on January 24, Tuesday. As it was unusual for him to
not contact them for so long, the family reached out to the Indian embassy, the news report said.
It was then they were told about Sheriff's demise. The family was communicated that the Polish police have also arrested a person in connection with the murder. The embassy said they are in constant touch with the police department for updates and follow-ups on the investigation, Malayalam media reports said.
Ibrahim Sheriff shared accommodation with a Polish citizen in the European nation. However, it was not known if the detained accused was the roommate or not. More details are awaited.
