The Indian Embassy in Doha is preparing to send those distressed citizens back after New Delhi announced flights for return of Indian nationals stranded abroad.
A press statement by the Indian Embassy in Doha yesterday said that approximately 40,000 Indian nationals had registered on the e-portal showing willingness to return.
Ambassador P Kumaran said that priority will be given to those requiring medical attention , pregnant women , workers in distress , senior citizens, others who were on visit visa and some other
categories are being worked out by the Mission officials.
The Embassy is in the process of contacting these people who had registered on the e portal. Tickets will be issued to those by the Airlines , who are on the list which is being prepared by the Embassy on payment basis.
The first flight is scheduled to take off to Kochi on the 7th of May. The second flight is scheduled on the 10th of May to take off to Thiruvananthapuram. Approximately 360-370 nationals are likely to be evacuated.
