Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan for his party's emergence as the largest political party in the Pakistani national assembly, Xinhua news agency reported.
Former international cricket star Imran Khan won the Pakistani general election on July 25.

said during the telephone conversation, Modi told Imran Khan that he was confident that democracy would flourish in Pakistan and peace would prevail in the region.
"The prime minister (Modi) expressed the hope that democracy will take deeper roots in Pakistan and reiterated his vision of peace and development in the entire neighbourhood," the statement said.
