The President of international police cooperation agency 'Interpol' has been reported missing after he travelled to his native country, China, on September 29. He left his home in Interpol's headquarters Lyon, France, for a visit to his homeland, and then vanished.
According to a French judicial official, Interpol's President, Meng Hongwei boarded a plane and landed in China. His wife, who put out a call yesterday said she
has not heard from her 64-year-old husband since the end of September.
In a statement, Interpol said it was aware of reports about Meng's disappearance and added, this is a matter for the relevant authorities in both France and China. France launched its own investigation yesterday. Before being elected head of Interpol in November 2016, Meng was vice minister of public security in China.
