Israel has announced it will sever all ties with the United Nations’ Palestinian relief agency, UNRWA, following the implementation of a ban on the organization’s activities on Israeli territory, effective from tomorrow. UNRWA, a UN agency, plays a critical role in providing healthcare and education to the occupied Palestinian territories.
The organization claims to
have supplied 60 per cent of the total food aid delivered to the Gaza Strip since the onset of the current war. Israel has consistently accused UNRWA of undermining its security and alleges that the agency played a role in the deadly Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in over 1,000 Israeli deaths and 250 hostages being taken.
