Israeli warplanes yesterday hit Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip in retaliation for yesterday's Palestinian rocket fire. An Israeli military statement said a Defence Forces aircraft struck a number of what it called terror targets in a Hamas military compound in the northern Gaza Strip. The strikes were confirmed by a Palestinian security source in
Gaza.
On Wednesday, several rockets were fired at Israeli city of Ashdod from the Hamas-ruled Strip. This reportedly forced Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to flee the stage during a campaign rally. He is campaigning for re-election in 17th September Parliamentary polls. Israel and Hamas have fought three wars since 2008.
