Japan: 3 military personnel sustained bullet injuries after teenage member fired rifle

Three military personnel of the Japanese Self-Defence Forces sustained bullet injuries yesterday during an apparent gun-related incident at a Ground Self-Defense Force (SDF) shooting range in Gifu city. A teenage male member of the SDF was arrested after he allegedly fired a rifle. At least one of the injured people is in critical condition,

Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported.

Citing investigators, it said, there are no reports of civilian casualties. Shootings are extremely rare in Japan, where gun ownership is tightly regulated, and anyone seeking to own a gun must go through a rigorous vetting process.
