K Taraka Rama Rao visits Silicon Valley

Minister for Industries, IT and MAUD K Taraka Rama Rao has visited Silicon Valley and witnessed the new innovations in non-conventional energy resources. The Minister visited the Cleantech Incubator I-Hub in California and viewed startups on non-conventional energy resources. He also interacted with the emerging researchers in the I-Hub.

The Minister was impressed with a small industry making bio-degradable plastic glass in I-Hub. Generally, a plastic



item takes 450 to 1,000 years to degrade in soil but this special glass with new technology would degrade within six months. He said the technology would be very useful in a city like Hyderabad as the government intends to make the city plastic-free.

After having talks with many companies in Silicon Valley, KTR travelled in electric car Tesla. The Minister personally drove the car. The car which was launched in 2003 is a sensation in America.
