King Charles III decides to not attend international climate change summit COP27 to be held in Egypt next month

London: King Charles III made the decision of not attending the international climate change summit COP27 to be held in Egypt next month. This has fuelled speculation that the new monarch will have to rein in his environmental activism now that he has ascended the throne.

Reports suggest that the decision came after Conservative Prime Minister Liz Truss objected to Charles attending COP27, during her meet with the king last month at Buckingham Palace.

Charles had



previously attended COP26, in Glasgow, Scotland, but his attendance at this year’s conference was never confirmed. The summit is taking place from 16th to 18th November in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Under the rules that govern Britain’s constitutional monarchy, the king is barred from interfering in politics. Hence, by convention, all official overseas visits by the royal family are undertaken in accordance with advice from the government.
